Discover Lower Silesia

Mountains and Lower Silesia Lower Silesia is a region where mountain scenery meets historic towns, castles and palaces. The Karkonosze Mountains, crowned by Śnieżka, rise above the Jelenia Góra Valley, while the nearby Rudawy Janowickie range offers forests and striking rock formations. River valleys, country roads and expansive parks invite excursions and leisurely walks. A rich history, regional cuisine and stays in former noble residences bring this corner of Poland vividly to life.

Regional Cuisine Lower Silesian cuisine combines Polish, Czech, German and eastern-borderland traditions, reflecting the region’s complex history. Local specialities include pierogi with a variety of fillings, aromatic soups, game dishes and trout from local fish farms. Forest mushrooms, seasonal vegetables, regional cheeses and honey enrich the menus. Meals in palace restaurants and local inns offer an opportunity to discover the flavours of Lower Silesia.

Palaces Against a Mountain Backdrop The abundance of historic residences, parks and gardens makes a journey through Lower Silesia reminiscent of touring the châteaux of France’s Loire Valley. The comparison evokes the experience of travelling from one stately home to another, with the added backdrop of the Karkonosze Mountains and neighbouring ranges.

Świdnica and Książ Castle Świdnica invites visitors to explore its historic market square and the Church of Peace, whose timber-framed structure conceals a richly decorated interior. Książ impresses with its scale and its location above a wooded valley. The itinerary includes the standard tour of the castle interiors, excluding the underground tunnels.

Karpacz and Cieplice Karpacz lies at the foot of the Karkonosze Mountains and is home to the historic wooden Wang Church. Cieplice offers a different pace, with its spa-town surroundings, parkland and time for a leisurely walk.

Bukowiec, Mysłakowice and Łomnica Bukowiec is a village with a historic park and mountain views. Mysłakowice recalls the region’s royal residences and Tyrolean settlers, while Łomnica offers an insight into the palace and its former residents during a museum visit.

Bolesławiec and Kliczków Bolesławiec is famous for its pottery, whose distinctive patterns have become a recognisable symbol of the town. A pottery-themed visit and a stroll through the market square precede the transfer to Kliczków, where the castle’s woodland setting provides a peaceful end to the day.
