A REGION MADE FOR CYCLING

Warmia and Masuria combine lakes, forests and glacial hills. Together, these landscapes offer an appealing setting for leisurely rides along gravel roads, selected forest tracks and quieter local roads, with stops at historic sites along the way. Wide MTB tyres improve comfort on uneven surfaces, while electric assistance makes climbs easier. However, the region is not entirely flat: short hills, sand and loose ground may require extra caution or occasionally getting off the bike.

Our five rides

The first ride explores the area around Karnity, followed by a second ride through the countryside surrounding the Galiny estate. Next, the third ride links Reszel with Święta Lipka, while the final two rides explore Ryn and the Great Masurian Lakes. Daily stages are approximately 25–40 km, totalling about 130–180 km. Between regions, participants travel by minibus; therefore, the programme consists of separate cycling excursions rather than a continuous ride from Gdańsk to Masuria.

Masurian Cycling Loop

Near Ryn, the programme may follow selected stretches of the Masurian Cycling Loop. However, surfaces and difficulty vary, so riders should expect a mix of terrain rather than a fully paved cycle path. For this reason, the final route sections, elevation profiles and starting points will be confirmed after assessing current conditions and the group’s abilities. The standard programme does not include technical singletracks or downhill trails.

Support and safety

A guide leads the group while the support team transports luggage and arranges battery charging. If needed, the minibus can collect a participant from a vehicle-accessible location agreed with the guide. Some riding takes place on roads shared with traffic; in natural areas, however, we use only routes where cycling is permitted. If the weather makes cycling unsuitable, we will arrange alternative sightseeing by minibus.

Participant preparation

Participants must be confident cyclists and able to brake safely on a variety of surfaces. For a comfortable ride, bring closed-toe shoes, comfortable clothing, gloves, cycling glasses and a waterproof jacket. Although electric assistance makes riding easier, it does not replace pedalling or confident bike handling. Before reserving the bicycles, we collect participants’ heights and equipment preferences to help select suitable bikes.

HISTORIC ACCOMMODATION

Karnity Castle

Karnity Castle is a nineteenth-century residence with castle-style architecture on Lake Kocioł in the Iława Lake District. Its park, lakeside setting and greenery offer a peaceful start to the journey. Inside, en-suite rooms retain the character of a historic property, although their layout and facilities differ from those of modern resort hotels. After the flight, the first night provides time to rest and settle into the journey.

Galiny Palace and Manor Farm

Galiny is a historic estate near Bartoszyce with a palace, manor farm and extensive green spaces. Across the estate, individually furnished rooms are located in the palace and farm buildings. The restaurant draws on regional culinary traditions, while the gardens, ponds and grounds around the stables offer pleasant surroundings for leisurely walks. For this programme, accommodation is proposed in the palace itself, subject to confirmed availability.

Reszel Castle

Reszel Castle is a historic stronghold of the bishops of Warmia beside the old town. Here, Gothic architecture, thick walls and intimate interiors create the atmosphere of a historic residence. The castle houses a hotel and restaurant, while sections open to visitors offer an opportunity to explore the building. With two nights here, guests have time to discover Reszel, Święta Lipka and nearby villages.

Hotel Zamek Ryn

Ryn Castle is a former Teutonic fortress converted into a four-star hotel, located between Lakes Ołów and Ryńskie. Within the castle, the historic walls and courtyard create a distinctive setting for the stay. After a day of cycling, guests can enjoy the restaurant and relax in the swimming pool and spa facilities, subject to the access included in their reservation. A two-night stay also allows time to explore the Great Masurian Lakes without changing hotels each day.

Hotel in Gdańsk

The final night is planned in a comfortable four-star hotel in or near Gdańsk’s Main Town. From this convenient base, guests can combine sightseeing with free time by the Motława River and a farewell dinner. Accommodation includes an en-suite room and breakfast before departure. Before the trip, the exact hotel will be confirmed based on availability and convenient airport access.
